The 24 Hours of Le Mans (French: 24 Heures du Mans), a four-wheel endurance race held near Le Mans, France, is also one race in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). As one of the most historic races, it is known as one of the three major races in the world, alongside Formula 1's Monaco Grand Prix and the Indy 500 in the United States.
In 1991, the Mazda 787B became the first Japanese automaker to win the overall championship, and it was the first rotary engine car and the first non-reciprocating engine car to win the overall championship, making it a truly remarkable achievement.
