---------------------------

The basic design is a 4-2-1 layout aimed at increasing torque from low to mid-range speeds. The 4-2 exhaust pipes are longer than in the mass-produced version, and the angle of the junction is narrowed to prevent blowdown (exhaust backflow) that occurs at high speeds. In addition, a radial shape is used for the joint to increase the exhaust flow rate. As a result, torque (power) is improved from low to mid-range speeds to peak power. >>Learn more

A fully isometric layout that increases exhaust flow velocity and improves torque.

Let's take a look at how an engine works. Basically, it is the process of converting the chemical energy contained in gasoline into thermal energy, and the process of mechanically extracting that energy. It goes without saying that in terms of power performance, the previous process is important. And it is the series of air flows that governs it. That is why fluid mechanics is required in the design of the air inlet and outlet. Now, to the main point, in that sense, it is actually the outlet that is more difficult to design. The pressure and temperature are higher, and naturally the flow speed is also fast. So there is inevitably resistance. On top of that, there is also the difficult issue of pulsation due to the timing of the explosion. These issues are concentrated especially in the exhaust manifold, which is located immediately after the engine. So it is important to tune it effectively.
Our basic design is a 4-2-1 (3-1 for the RX-8) layout aimed at increasing torque from low to mid-range. Taking into consideration the RPMs and overlap characteristics of each individual engine, we made the distance to the junction longer than mass-produced and made them equal in length. Furthermore, we narrowed the angle of the junction to prevent the blowdown phenomenon (exhaust backflow) that occurs at high RPMs. In addition, the joint to one main unit is made radial in shape to increase the exhaust flow speed and achieve output characteristics that enhance the engine's capabilities. The functional beauty of the stainless steel, which makes full use of craftsmanship such as fully machined flanges and back-shield TIG welding, is also appealing.
