AutoExe original setting. Mechanical type with best street specifications.

The mechanical (multi-plate clutch) limited slip differential, which distributes and transmits effective traction to the left and right drive wheels when cornering or on slippery surfaces, is based on the proven CUSCO product and has an AutoExe original setting that takes ease of use and comfort into consideration.
The operating method is 1.5-way, with 100% effectiveness when the accelerator is on and 50% effectiveness when the accelerator is off. The drive side cam angle is set to 35-45°, and the torque bias ratio is set to 4.0-6.0 on the drive side. The initial torque is 40.8-51.0Nm, providing a direct operating feel and reliable traction. This item accentuates the handling characteristic of FR vehicles. In addition, with consideration given to street driving, the specifications are designed to minimize chattering (the metallic sound that occurs when the clutch plate slips). The product comes with a specified LSD oil.

Below is an overview of the "aims" and "technology". Since differentials are a kind of black box for most readers, it may be difficult to imagine how they work, but if you are thinking about tuning a differential, it is best to at least understand the basic principles. This is because the usability of the system can change significantly depending on the design intent.

First, some basic knowledge: a differential is a device that changes the rotational speed of the driven outer and inner wheels when the vehicle turns. This is because, when turning at a fixed angle as shown in the figure, the radius of the path traced by the inner and outer wheels is different. Naturally, the outer wheel must travel a longer distance than the inner wheel, and rotate faster. If this is not the case (if they rotate at the same speed), the inner wheel will slip and consume excessive rotations, preventing smooth turning. In short, a differential is a mechanism that creates a rotational difference between the driven wheels. That's why it is also translated as "differential device" in Japanese.
Of course, there is no need for differentials when going straight, and differentials are not good for the car. If there is a difference in rotation between the drive wheels, it will change the direction of travel. So how does the differential know when to turn? It bases its judgment on the resistance from the road surface.
